so heres the story......
im going north on 101 headed to a party in SF when my car starts emitting greyish white smoke and smelling funny. after pulling onto the shoulder, i see tranny fluid dripping from the hose connecting it to the radiator. so i turn around a nurse my car back home, dripping fluid the whole way. now this morning, i go out to survey the damage, and find out that the hose came in contact with my new Borla header, and melted away a considerable portion of the hose. now replacing the hose and fluid shouldnt be that bad of a problem. looking up from underneath, i can see that the hose is only four feet from the tranny hard line and the radiator, and it only does two 90* bends, and theres only two hose clamps. no problem. ( except the fact that Kragen wants to sell me 25 feet of hose
) now my one question is, what do i do to prevent this from happening again? i dont wanna replace a hose every two weeks.....

if you go to a proformance websight, like jegs or summit you will see what they call heat insulation wrap. This is not like header wrap this is a sleve with a silver outter lining and almost like house insulation on the inside. after you fix the hose (and i suggest making the hoses a bit longer an routing them higher up) put this sleve around the sections of hose that are close to the header.

That is if you replace the rubber hose with metal and keep it that close to the header the transmission fluid will get super heated causing you no end of greaf down the line (blown transmission).
I think the very best thing you can do is rerout the lines and insulate where needed.
