stright pipe from header back

hey i was going to put on mu single ported headers for my 96 impreza 2.2L im going to have a shop make a custom stright pipe from headers back with no cat. and a muffler. doesnt any one know if my car will back firer? please get back to me

i did it too b4. well i kind of like it (the sound) and not like it (the smell). but deff. you will get lot of "poops"

just taking the muffler section off my car made it sound like a racecar. with no cats or anything? holy crap that thing will be loud. and ya i would expect backfire, dont forget, with an n/a motor a certain amount of backpressure is your friend...

currently(and for the next few days) im running just a pipe from the cat-back, as im having a problem with a aluminum adaptor seized into a chrome muffler, and am trying to remove it (any ideas?).

so basically its no echaust behind the cats, and DAMN ITS LOUD!!! after driving 30 minutes home from work, my ears were ringing. and it pops and snaps really loud then. I cant imagine what it would sound like without the cats on.

I think you mean velocity. Backpressure is never your friend. With a straight pipe you should have tons of exhaust speed though. More power to ya. (pun intended)

I've got an 03 wrx, currently running completely catless. Vishnu uppipe, bellmouth 4-3 inch downpipe..Looking into straight 3 inch pipes all the way back. Hope it doesn't poop too much..

i am runing factory exhaust all the way back, except i gutted my muffler and stuck a 3" pipe through it. and i get pops. man i love the sound of them. good luck with this! what size pipe do you want to use? 2.5"? please keep us posted as to how this works cuase i want to do this.
