Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

Question seat belt beep

I recently purchased an 06 2.5 wagon. I love the car, but have found one annoying thing. If the ignition is on or the car is running the seat belt alarm or whatever its called beeps for a bit like every thirty seconds. I wear my seat belt when driving but if im in the car and not driving it gets annoying really quick. My 97 only beeped when you first started he car. Does anyone know how to turn this off? thanks

I have an '06 STI and it has the same annoying beep. In the manual it says that the dealer can turn it off. I took it to the dealer in Mobile, AL and they told me that the Subaru rep said not to disable it since it is a safety mechanism. I am going to just unplug the damn wire from the seatbelt since the part in the dash is apparently integrated with some other things.

I just took out the front 2 bolts on the seat and loosened the back ones to pry up the seat. Then I unplugged a white clip with 2 black wires and the beeping stopped. The seat belt light went out also. The car is a lot nicer to drive without that annoying beep.

another way to get rid of that annoying beep while driving is to wear your seatbelt!

the "situation"? I understand the not wanting it to beep when you arent going anywhere or just warming up the engine, I was talking in response to this:
