Hows it goin. I have a '97 impreza wagon with a motor swap and a buch of other goodies. The fuel pump is out of a jdm wrx but the sending unit is stock. there is 80,000miles on the body. The problem is my gas gage is sometimes dropping below E when i know theres gas. I checked the grounds and it seems to be fine. Should i be checking the floaty in the tank or is this a gage problem?

 

suabru gas gauges are not the best. mine will be reading full for awhile then suddenly drop to 1/2 tank. i just go use to it, and made sure i didnt go below 1/4 tank.

Totally normal. My 02 WRX reads dead "E" with 3 1/2 gallons left in the tank. Guess Subaru thinks we're morons.

hey finaly some body else noticed that the tank holds like 16 gallons i put in 12 and it is full,
12 in at e but where is the rest, and besides what are you getting like 250 miles to a tank then.

 

i am curious as to where the supposed extra 4 gallons are hiding. i wonder if the car has a reserve tank that kicks in at E or somethign like that. i have heard that we have a gas light for when theres a gallon left, but i dont know if i wanna find out. i am perfectly fine filling every 250-300 miles to ensure that i dont run outta gas.
