Purchasing 05 Impreza RS....

I am looking to get into the 2005 Impreza RS in the next few days here. I am going for my first test drive today. I am looking to get some opinions and things to look out for from some current owners of the car. I am going to test both models, the sedan and the wagon. I am wondering if there is any significant difference between the two, other then weight and look, maybe if the car handles any different, or performs any different. I guess I am just looking to get a general census on the car to help justify my purchase. Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks alot.

I absolutely love mine... but then again i'm upgrading from a 100hp Dodge Daytona ES. What i've found is that if you're looking for any extra power from your RS, it was just a better idea to get a WRX or STI to start with. The RS is a great car and has the pep to get you where ever you want and more, but just don't kick yourself in the **** when you think it's too slow. Besides the engine and HP ratings, almost everything about the RS is the same as the WRX.
Have you owned Subaru before or are you new to the fam.? What other cars are you looking at?

No, I am new to the Subaru Family. This will be the first one I have owned. I test drove the RS last night.... What an amazing car, handling was incredible, acceleration and feel of the car was just amazing. Everything was good to go, until the salesman put together the whole pricing with the oprions and taxes. About 5 grand more than what I expected. Might have to wait a few more paychecks to get into one.
I am also looking at some midsize trucks a few years older. Like some early 2000 models of the tundra and the frontier. The impreza appeals me because of the 4 wheel drive, and because I have always been a fan of the Impreza.

That much aside. The RS can be made to have ~200hp reliably without a turbo.
To answer the initial question. I own an 04 TS (same as an 05 RS wagon), I look at it as a fun car w/more power than most 4 cyl cars in the low RPMs and it has AWD. The 05 wagon can't get the sport package to improve handeling but the sedan can't hold as much cargo

I just got a new 2005 Impreza RS... I loved it from day 1.... handles really well. Like the others have said, it is a canvas for a project car.... good base to work from.
I would have liked to get the WRX or the STI.... but they were alittle out of my range.... I am happy tho with my purchase...
Good luck with purchasing yours and hope you enjoy as well as I.
