First off hello everyone. I'm new to the scooby world.

long story short getting a real good deal on a 96 impreza L....only it won't start...gas but no spark. is there a common problem to look for or is there a good place to start?

 

No spark in all 4-cylinders? Describe how you diagnosed the problem.

 

not exactly positive for all four. but two for sure. basicly pulled the wire from the distributer/coil and cranked it....and no jump from thewire to the distributer/coil

 

You might have a bad coil pack.

Best thing to do, is to pull the plug wires one by one from the spark plug, then use a spare plug and crank the car to see if there is a spark.

 

ok turns out it was a crank position sensor, at least thats what my scanner said. it starts right up now but I have a feeling that it'll happen again. so does anyone know where this sensor is or have a link to how to replace it?

 

Check with LIC Motorsports. They have lots of stock parts laying around.
