Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

No acceleration EJ1.8L

Is it an auto? If so, I'll be the first to say that your clutchpack in your tranny is toast. Anyone?

Bad torque converter or, more likely, bad MAF, bad/fouled plugs, bad wires, etc... lastly, it may be a vacuum leak.

flashing CEL = bad. I concure with BAN SUV's, and there are a few other problems it could have too.

Mass Air Flow sensor, its in the intake track, like a 5" segment that has a plug in it.

Leak test:

-Get yourself a can or wd-40 or similar.
-Then spray the vacuum lines down while the car is idling.

The engine will pick up rpm's when you find a leak.

Maf:
Not sure, but napa had one for my other cars so i suppose you can get one from them.

it kinda sounds like the same problem i had with my 1.8L auto. my tranny fluid hose burped all over 101, so when i would try to accelerate, it would just rev. not good on 101 south

I agree with BAN SUVS about the torque converter / also prolly your clutch.( If 5mt ) Before I had the tranny replaced in my 93, I had a bit of the same simptoms. My advise would be to take it into a local tranny shop and have them test drive it. ( Usually a free inspection )
