I am picking my 00 RS this Saturday, and im so excited. This is my 2nd car but anyways after getting clear corners and installing my old system, i would like to bump the performance up a little. Seeing as how intake/exhuast give minimal gains, i was wondering if i can get cams right away? how much for them plus install? Would u guys recomend to get anything before hand?
People kept telling me not to get the cams but i've always wanted to get them because it brings out the most power when you have the intake and exhaust system. As for now, i'm putting the cams last. You can get it now before other mods.
Install on cams is long, around 5 hours from a guy who owns a shop(subaru and evo shop), thats around 35 bucks an hour for this shop. You might be able to find someone who does it cheaper. Cams i like is cobbtuning. Tech work engineering has cams too

they are alot compard to other cars just to let you know i looked into it to. but do not get really radical cams if you plan on turbo it later, i have been told that by a few people.

Cams for a SOHC RS will runn $400-500 depending on what you get. You will also probably have to pay a core charge, refundable when they get your old cams back. They are the best mod you can do for your NA RS, as they work well with both bolt-ons and forced induction, provided you are using a milder street cam with more lift but not much more duration.
Bans,
Where have you found cams for $400-$500? If i did the refundable core charge and send my stock cams back how long do you think the cams will last milage wise. Would be quite a problem if something happened to the racing cams. Thnx

cobb's price for cams is $899 , if you send your old cams back they will give you $400 back, so the total price would be $499. This is for sohc
dohc has a higher price
