more power out of my 2.2?
i have a 98 L and im looking to get a bit more power outta my car.
mods:
modified intake
grounding mod
and ur pullies
I will be making a custom exhaust soon with a borla backbox and a 2.25in midpipe. And eventually a set of headers. Besides going turbo what are my other options? And will the 2.25in midpipe connect witht the stock cat?
also about how much would it cost for a custom midpipe?

If you have no worries about emissions just do your full exhaust from headers back but use a catless pipe instead of a high flow. Might free up slightly more power for you.

I'm in the middle of a port and polish/Valve Job/new cams, valves, and dual valve springs. on my 2.2. I got a Apex-i S-AFC2 waiting on deck too. the afc won't give much gain, but it does smooth stuff out. Ignitions won't do a lot, and are rare. Any suspension upgrades/mild lowering will make a noticable difference too. I think my next step is to finish my terrible exhaust. and lightweight pullies for my altenator and for the PS pump.
I don't have any numbers to show you, but they are all solid mods and should give you some ideas. (though You'll hear both ways on the Apex, and it's no good on a stock car.) Get a catalog from Paeco,(their website pales in comparosin) they have alot of great suby parts, and Carl is great help. Stay away from ebay IAT modules. There's also janky electronic shift kits out there to probibaly avoid if you have an automatic.

yea suspension and appearence is the next step i like the whole stock look with an unstock motor lol. Im working on a RSB and some Wheels im a college student so money is a huge limiting factor. Ill probably end up getting a used set of wrx wheels. fab my own exhaust and then get a RSB from a vender.

im abou to buy a magnaflow muffler from a friend of mine it is attached to the stock midpipe how do you think it will sound with the stock midpipe?
Eventually i will do a 2.25 mid and that should really make it sound good.
i never heard it on his do you think it would make a deep tone or raspy? I know magnaflows have a fairly good sound on subarus but i guess im a bit skeptic. Thanks all.
note: it probably only has 10,000 miles on it if that

update:
Well i got the exhaust installed today and upon turning on the car i was happy, untill i pulled away and it sounded like a fart can needless to say i was pissed. So i drove around a bit and it sounded deeper and deeper the longer i drove. Once the engine is warm it sounds great. Whats the deal there? I didnt think a warmer engine or exhaust would make that much of a sound difference.

As the engine and whole exhaust warms up and you run at higher power, the EGT goes up and thus speed of sound in exhaust gases increases... this will change the tuned lengths of the system and probably affect the sound as well. Overall, less energy will be lost by the gases down the exhaust as well, one reason why insulating the headers can make a bit of difference.
