More Power

I have a 98 impreza L and i am looking to get about 150 hp out of it for right now what are some mods i can do to get me to that point without voiding my warranty(1 year)?

if it's a 1.8l, you can't get there without a very large sum of money. If it's a 2.2, you're only 10 hp short. Borla headers (about the only ones you can get for a 2.2) with a high-flow cat and 2.25" exhaust should do the trick.

yea its a 2.2 but wont they void warrenty? Do you think that maybe i should just wait a year then go crazy at once since i wont have to worry about warrenty.

I'd focus on handling and such for a year. Then when the warranty is gone, tinker with the engine. Is your car stock right now?

Get a rear sway bar. I have one either for a forester, or from one, and it feels nice. Im not sure if it will void the warranty or not.

yup all stock except for the silverstar bulbs. I just bought it a week ago. Ill be buying some clear indicator lights soon, i just didnt decide if i want clear or smoked. The car is the forest green color, any imput is welcome.

A cat back exhaust won't void your warranty, and no amount of NA mods is enough for Subaru to really say they caused any transmission problems (they could still claim abuse, but they can try that anyway). Handling wise, if you want to stick to a small budget, do the things that Kostamojen did to his 95 L. He has one of the fastest NA cars in the area and has a 1.8l.

i have a 2.2, and i had about 130hp to the wheels stock. not sure what i have after my mods, but probably not over 150 with intake, headers, cat-back, pulley, s-afc, ground kit.

and the headers, i have not found any brands other than borla for the 2.2, nobody cares about us 2.2 guys. i would love to find another brand though, i dont care the price.

mysubaruimp: does the ground kit make any noticable difference in the 2.2 ive only heard it done on 2.5s and wrx's. i also have a question bout the intakes i hear the mafs are a little shakey on the imprezas well will a conical filter on the end of the stock intake tube mess with it the same? Make any kind of difference? Or is it a waste of money to do? Sorry to seem like a pest just kinda getting to know my limits and whats worth doing

the ground kit did make a difference, i think it is one of those,"what day did your car get made on" type of things, works for some, not for others. i made mine myself with some 4guage. my car was smoother throughout the powerband, no power gains i would say, but smooth, no spikes anymore. it was worth it for me.

mafs are a little shakey on subarus, an intake really isnt worth it, it just makes it louder. the snorkelectomy with a k&n(properly oiled)is really the best way to go.

keep on asking, its one of the best ways to find stuff out, nobody trying to sell you anything here, just trying to accuratly portray the facts. just dont go on any one persons words, cause they might be wrong, no matter how sure they sound, i myself am wrong a lot, and am still learning everyday like the rest of us. maybe one day i can be as cool as BANSUVS, and have a sweet avatar with a domo-kun and a hot chicks ****

LOL!! Hey thanks for the help i had plans on making the kit with 8 gauge but now that i think of it 4 gauge isnt a huge difference I think ill go with the 4 gauge.

Now i just need an opinion and all my questions for now have been answered. I have a dark green impreza and am looking to buy clear indicator lights but cant decide if the smoked, clear, or diamond clear would look the best. It's a tossup.
