Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

Major engine failure, NO POWER

Someone else had the car for 2yrs, it sat 6-8mo, there was an extra gallon of oil in it, the crankshaft pulley keyway had worn a channel 45degrees wide, and the timing belt was off a tooth on the drivers side (39.5 instead of 40.5). The plugs & wires look new, but I wonder what shape the plugs are in now... And heres why: IF I can get it to start it runs very rough, spits oil out the exhaust, and any throttle application bogs the engine sometimes to a stall. BUT, if I pulse the throttle quickly, it does gain RPMs SLOWLY (up to about 3k) every time I take my foot OFF the throttle. I can't even release the clutch without a stall, as the revs WONT stay up even when they rise. NO POWER AT ALL! No oil in the coolant, no coolant in the oil, and it turns over A LOT easier without all that extra oil. Knock sensor? Plugs? Bad coils? Bad gas? I've tested the fuel pump and filter. No CEL when running... I've remove passenger side injector rail and they ARE spraying, but not much (not that I know how much they SHOULD). All wires are sparking, it seems. There WAS metal filings from the crankshaft pulley on the crank position sensor. I'm at a loss. Open to any suggestions!

try new plugs, they are probably COVERED in oil, get that timing back to the right spot, then everything should be fine
