MAF sensor and check engine light
MAF sensor and check engine light
Ok, so I am a complete idiot and realize that I really shouldn't have been messing around under the hood without much experience, but while changing my air filter I decided I would try and locate the MAF sensor for cleaning. I removed and replaced two things near the the throttle body and now my check engine light is on. Yes, I forgot to unplug the battery beforing working on it. Everything was put back the way I took it off, but now the car idles @ near 2000 rpm and my check engine light is on. I tried disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery for a 1/2 hour to clear the ECU, but the check engine light is still on and it still idles at a higher rpm than before. Do I need to make a trip to the dealer or can I do something to remedy this problem myself? Any advice or suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not sure if this is possible, but make sure you didn't put the MAF in backwards. That would definitely cause a problem. Hopefully it's something this simple and not something like you shorted out the MAF.
