are the intake tracts the same on all 98-01 rs's?
im wondering that because i want an akimoto funnel ram intake for a 2000 rs but one site that has them for sale says its for a 98-99 rs. i would think that with all years having the same engine and there not being any changes made(powerwise anyway) they would all have the same intake setup. i know that some years used MAF and some MAP. will the 98-99 setup work on a 2000?

Nope. Intake components for a 98-99 RS will not work with a 00-01. This is because the earlier cars had the MAF sensor inline with the intake tract, and were sort of a "roadblock" to using intakes- you could only modify it up to the Maf sensor, and needed to leave the rest of the tube to the throttle body the same. With the later MAP cars, however, you can do anything you want before the throttle body (some mods perform better than others) but it will still run ok.
If you are looking for a new intake, I would suggest the Cobb if you are willing to pay for it, or the PDM intake from PDM Racing if you are on a budget. The GanzFlow is also good on MAP cars if you can find a used one.

if you look at a picture of it installed in a 98-99, it looks like the MAF sensor is in between the filter and intake tube. i would think to make it work with MAP all you would have to do is put the filter on the intake tube and put the intake tube to the throttle body. i couldnt get the picture to load for me but here is the web address for the pictures.

Intakes meant for a MAF car won't work on cars with a MAP. The only way around it is to do some modifcation yourself- but what's the point of spending $125 on a do-it-yourself intake?

just in case any body cares, heres what racing sports akimoto had to say about the funnel ram for a 98-99 rs fitting on a 2000 rs.
