Weapon R intakes are all short ram. My friend bought one and we extended into a cold air intake with the right piping and materials.

NO!

00-01/02-04 2.5rs use a MAP sensor, 05-07 2.5i/wrx/sti use a MAF sensor

so a intake from an 04 2.5rs will not work on 05+ impreza of any model.

i, myself, modified a wrx aem intake to fit on my 07 2.5i, it was a pain in the *** to do, but it works and does the job

for a WRX or for a 2.5rs? cause the WRX one will not fit on the N/A cars and is not worth getting. just buy an AEM or Injen for the 05 2.5rs and use a T connection to split one of the vacuum lines (the new 06-07's have an extra hose connected to the intake)
