Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

You can install Subaru Svx 3.3 liter Pistons in a 2.2 and they have much higher compression. Also port and polishing the heads is fairly easy to do yourself although time consuming. Also you can send out your cams to a racing cam company such as Schneider racing cams and have them do a performance grind. Dont go any higher than a 256 duration grind or it will run rough at idle and the power will be too high in the rpm range(no bottom end)

I've got a '96 impreza L. same motor ej22 sohc. I've got a Tanabe catback, Spec stage 2 clutch kit, and an Intimidator cone filter with a MAF adapter. The exhaust definitely adds low end torque while the cone filter adds midrange power. With the uprated clutch, its a good starter combo....plus it really does sound gnarly! not sure what you're goin for. If you're lookin to go bolt on, this combo is it
