Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

Got me a Cosmo CAI....

Got me a Cosmo CAI....

...from eBay. $43 shipped from Canadia got me a plain-jane (but huge) cone filter, a surprisingly well-made MAF adapter, all mounting hardware (including aluminum bracketry), and hose clamp. Can't wait to toss it on with a piece of exhaust piping that leads to the torque box! Gonna have me a Ganz-style intake for $50!

Heavy? I'm just talking 16ga. mild steel. And only about 18" of it. If anything, the gripe should be that it'll retain heat like a ****. And to that end, I'm thinking about schedule 40 PVC and some silicon hose adapters.

Hmm thats sewer piping isn't it?

I don't think its terribly different than PVC and probably will die in heat too. I know for a fact that i have 3" ABS piping around at home here and even larger.

In all seriousness to make a ghetto-tastic CAI i just used 3" dryer hosing, got it at a Lowe's $7. To strap it on i used a aircondition ductwork strap, its like a 36" strap. That was by far the most amusing mod i've ever done.

The reason I haven't gone that route is due to the fact that I'm trying to smooth the airflow. And I'm not at all worried about tapping a bung for that little hose on the stock snorkle--I'll just stick a cheap-o breather on there.
