I've been having a problem with my '99 RS, which I think may have to do with the fuel injectors. When I sit at idle, the tach on the car jumps between about 200 prm to about 1000 rpm and the car shakes a bit. Also, sometimes when I attempt to start from a full stop at a light I have to pop the clucth twice to get the car to actually move. I figured that this might be because my injectors were dirty due to some probelms I had with a air filter. I added some injector clearner to the gas, and it seemed to help for a bit, but now it does the same thing. I'm hoping I'm not going to have to replace an injector as I hear they can run pretty expensive. If anyone can confirm or deny my suspicions, please let me know. Thanks.

 

Replace your MAF sensor. Check your plugs to, but it's almost certainly either your MAF or your Idle Air Controller, which is mounted on the throttle body. Have an experienced Subaru mechanic check it out.

 

It was the MAF alright. It had a recall on it, and Subaru replaced it yestarday and it fixed it right up. Thanks for your help.
