Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

de-stroked 257?

I was just thinking about it today. has anyone de-stroked a sti 2.5 and ran high compresion in a NA car. for displasment and high rev's? I just had it cross my mind to do this with a block I have siting around and then make some ITB's for it and see what it would drive like. I was just thinking a flat 4 with unequal length headers and ITB's would sound wicked.

not sure how far that would get you cause isn't the point of a high cr motor to also have as large a displacement as possible?

also wasn't there someone on NASIOC that put ITBs on the car and it did next to nothing?

well I am not sure I know I have seen itb's on a turbo car and that would realy not do that much. but the point of de-stroking the 2.5 would be for the quick rev's that you can acheve. it is something that has been done to V8's for a long time. the less strock the less stress on the rotating parts in the block at high rpm. I am sure you would still have a decent sized motor. like a 2.3 or something but this way you could rev the crap out of the block. also on a block like this the itb's would help alot for thotel responce not nesasaraly power.

Subaru's have oil problems when you get into that high of revs, but try it out, I'd be interested to see what you can pull off...

just put a 20 quart oil setup on it like the Porsches have and you'll be set!!!

Haha, an all motor subaru would be some cool **** though...maybe contend with some of the all motor honduhs...

Do it. I bet it would sound badass. A buddy of mine has a JDM sr20det with ITBs that he's swapping into his se-r sentra.

10k with some lopey cams 11:1 compression and an unequal length header would sound badass.

yeah that is what I am thinking. keep the unequal length headers and get some sweet *** sounds out of that car. I dont care ir I only get 220hp out of that thing when I am done. I was even thinking of welding the center diff and having RWD. as of now I am kinda having problems with the heads that I ordered ( bad clearences on the cam caps we were prity sure we fixed the problem but then I went to start the car and the belt jumped 3 teeth ): I am realy hopein it did not hurt anything and I am going to try and send back the heads and have them redo them. So my time an money is all taken up with my wrx. But I realy miss dirving my old GC so evey time I see this one parked I realy want to do something with it.

i have have seen de-stroked 2.5's down to 2.34-2.4's turbo'd and be in the 10k range in the 4 cyl. class. and i do like the 2.4 v8 f1 cars. i think they sound sweet and 20k rpm's. but i do not think you will get what you want out of a suby motor. maybe an auto-x motor and that is about it.

well to be honest I dont realy want it for racing I might make it RWD as a little drift project. I think I could get maby 250+ WHP with itb's and high compresion. maby like 11 to 1 or maby a little lower. I was just thinking of doing a 95 impreza L as a nice daily driver that sounds sweat.
