Help me find the culprate please.

So I've been losing coolant slowly and smelling it after driving. I have a 2003 OBS and I thought my head gasket may have been a$$ed out but I had a friend use a tester to see if I have fumes mixing with my coolant and as of now its not showing anything.

He twisted my cap loose while it was still warm and there was no pressure (or not enough) so he suggested I get a new radiator cap to start.

Did that yesterday. Got one with the little lever at the top to release the pressure. Drove it today and pulled the lever on the top to see if there was pressure and there wasn't any hissing or anything.

What else could cause a pressure loss and slow loss of coolant. I don't ever see any on the ground under the car and I never see any smoke coming out of the back either.


What else can I check?

Double check all the coolant hose connections, check the radiator for pinhole leaks (look for wet spots) and check the weap hole on the water pump.

If you can't find the leak you'll need to take it into a shop and ask them to pressure test the cooling system for you.

look underneath the car at where the heads meet the block, it sounds like head gaskets, and its very common on SOHC 2.5s they leak externally
