cold air filter enclosure?

cold air filter enclosure?
Hi i have a weapon r intake, please no weapon r bashing, but i was wondering if anyone knows how to build a box that encloses the air filter to the side of the engine near the fender well to avoid some of the engine heat.

Or does anyone know if i cut about 3 inches of the induction pipe so that i can fit the weapon r heat shield on with the flexible hosing and run the air scoop to my hood scoop, would it hurt to cut this off?
