Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

Cobb stage 1 or something cheaper??

Cobb stage 1 or something cheaper??

I'm really thinking about the cobb stage 1 power package for my car. Is that the best choice (for almost $900) or is there something cheaper but just as reliable and won't damage my car??

BTW I drive an 04 TS

stromung XA + cobb cai = 830
borla catback + cobb cai = 830 (ish)
custom exhaust + cobb cai = 550
custom exhaust + ganzflow cai = 420

should give you a good idea. basically custom catback is about $250 from a local shop to do. cobb cai is the best so try for that. or you could always go custom...much cheaper, SLIGHTLY lower hp gains.

You seem to favor the Cobb CAI. I've noticed a lot of impreza owners do.

What do the Stromung and Borla sound like? The last thing I want is rice. I'm looking for a nice low, mean sounding exhaust.

Stromung makes their catback to Cobb's specs, I had Borla's with Stromung SS cat/cat-back and it sounded burly. You can get the Cobb CAI and headers and the Stromung cat-back from another place or get it all from Cobb. You'll like it but don't forget to get the lt wt pulley also.

Another thoght if you are on a budget is skip the headers and instead get a catback, KNN drop in filter and spend the difference on a rear sway bar and possibly end links. (you will get a little extra power and a noticable difference in handeling.)
