Chirp from car lock system

Chirp from car lock system
When I bought my car everything was working great. Over time I notice that the Chirp would cut in out an frequently. Now the chirp doesn't work at all. I've tried the little trick with holding down the buttons on the remote lock key thing but nothing. Does anyone know why it would stop chirping?
