hello,

i have a problem, My car's check engine light just came on and i don't know whats wrong.

i have a 2 month warranty on it. but i know the dealership is going to blame it on my sound system.

the idle speed drops to bout 490-500rpm. suppose to stay @ 750rpm.

when it goes under it starts stuttering madly but it doesn't stall.

and the check engine light goes on.

is this an easy fix that i could do or will i have to cough up money i dont even got

well i got my cel code pulled from a friend. where do you live? post up in your regional section and maybe someone will have a code puller so you can figure out exactly whats wrong.

I went to dealership today, they said they booked until monday so they didn't look at it

they said it could be a bad coil pack or bad spark plug thats causing the problem

can i purchase a code puller and if so how much and where can i get one?

 

Autozone usually will pull the code for free, but if you want to get one they run 65-100 bucks (The dealer out here charges 110+ to check the code)

 

thanks mrpedal, i didn't know autozone did that. I went to auto zone early this afternoon and they pulled the code.

the problem is that Cylinder 1 is misfiring

autozone said it could be anything from bad coil pack or bad spark plug.

car stutters like its going to stall and it does if i stay at a stop light too long.

how much does it cost to replace a bad coil pack?? bad spark plug??....

took car to dealership to get it fix

was the ignition coil pack $200 for that part.

while under the hood they changed all spark plugs and some spark plug wires

total in parts $300

grand total $600!!!

now what if 2 cylinders were toasted, dam.........
