does anyone know of a manufacturer who makes cams that pass CARB testing that will fit the EJ18? im getting kinda desperate and am about to just get DOHC 2.5 heads and swap those on....if they fit. or just throw in the stock cams from the SOHC 2.5.......if those fit. or maybe i should just go the easy boosted route and throw in a whole EJ20T......
i dont know about all that, but i do need cam help.
thanks

There are no aftermarket cams for EJ18's. Theres basically no aftermarket support for EJ18's period. You would have to have everything custom made. Its not really worth it anyway, as the EJ18 heads are horrible. And no, any modification to cams would not be CARB legal.
What is legal, is swaping in a newer engine (but a JDM engine is not legal)

take off your heads with cams and give these plp a call
if you have the money they can port and polish too
for less than $1500 you can gain more than 50 HP

I have had Paeco's catalog coming for about ten years, I ordered an ignition from them but they sent me one for an older subaru which required a distributor. Has anyone else got parts from them?

so since there is no such thing as a CARB legal cam, what about the EJ25 SOHC cams? or should i just switch the whole heads? ( after porting/polishing, of course )

do you live in a place with smog testing?
because depending what state it is it might not be as strick as others and you could still pass with cams just not that aggresive a cam

oh in that case you should swap to be legal
even if you change heads that could make you illegal because you would put out more than the specs that are for the your car
