2004 ts
Hey guys im new to imports in general.... my previous cars were 2 old turbo diesel benz, and an 2000 s-10. Well heres my story i basically am in school and haver a ver limitrd budget, so even though i walked into the subaru dealer to buy a wrx wagon, ended up with s ts wagon. The salesman basically needed the sale b/c he gave me an outrageous amount for my truck... more than i payed for it in fact. Well he also told me the sti has basically the same engine as the ts and rs, so heres my question...... What can i do to produce at least WRX performance, and perhaps even more?

No, it definitely does not have "basically the same" engine as the STi. Like you said- he desperately needed a sale. Most of what he told you about the car you can toss out the window. It is a great car though- lots of torque from the motor (more than almost any other normally aspirated 4 cylinder engine) and very reliable. If you want WRX performance though, you should probably jsut save up some more money and trade in for one in a year or 2.

www.cobbtuning.com will keep u n/a and if you go stage 3; lots of power
theres an sc kit coming out; check www.rs25.com/forums to read about it
You were had my friend. I'd go back and yell at the dealer if I were you. That being said an intake, full exhaust, and pullies and you will be near WRX performance at sea level.

I dont believe i was had at all.....I knew the guy was full of it when he told me that the engine was basically the same, but then again i realized that if you can put together a civic and push 200hp, you could go farther with this motor. I will agree that i didnt do my research as far as the ts/rs is concerned b/c i was not in the market for either, i went to the dealer with a wrx in mind, but i could not afford to pay the extra 5,000. Im 19 and work and go to school full time and i pay for all my expenses on my own despite living with my parents, I never really listened to the dealer, but like i said I believed there was alot of potential out of such a big motor in a relatively small car. Another thing is i plan on paying off my car and hopefully trading up by next winter hopefully for a wrx...so i was looking at my options.
