Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

No, it definitely does not have "basically the same" engine as the STi. Like you said- he desperately needed a sale. Most of what he told you about the car you can toss out the window. It is a great car though- lots of torque from the motor (more than almost any other normally aspirated 4 cylinder engine) and very reliable. If you want WRX performance though, you should probably jsut save up some more money and trade in for one in a year or 2.

You were had my friend. I'd go back and yell at the dealer if I were you. That being said an intake, full exhaust, and pullies and you will be near WRX performance at sea level.

For the cost of Cobb stage II, kick-*** though it may be, you could buy an EJ25 stage II kit from Ludespeed AND replace your 5MT twice.

He most certainly does. Salesmen should not be lying to customers, period.
