2.5 swap question
When I get a new motor I would like to get a SOHC 2.5, if possible. My question is could it run with the stock ECU of my '93 L (1.8) and some sort of piggy back- like a S-AFC? One reason, among others, is I want to remain MAF so I don't have to screw with wiring too, too much. Has anyone done this kind of swap without switching ECUs?

if you can do the work your self and get the parts cheap i think you could have this done for less than $1500
what you need are the shortblock heads and big injector for the motor the 98 rs or 96-98 legacy outback injects should do it
take your intake manifold off and put on the 2.5 heads and block
put injectors in and tune
for the money turboing the 1.8 is going to give more power than a 2.5NA swap but not as much as going with a turbo motor which is more expensive
