Question Uppipe Uprgrade...

Ive heard the 06 wrx uppipe are catless (i believe on the the STI)? can someone pls confirm this? im thinking of upgrading my uppipe..any suggestion on wat to get? is it worth it? thanks guys

You have an 06 wrx? If so don't waste your money and effort on an uppipe. STi and 06 wrx are catless already.

VIBEELEVEN is correct. Thankfully Subaru worked out an alternative method of achieving lower emissions without resorting to that darned pre-catalyst in the uppipe for the '06 WRX. Those cars have a motor-driven air injector pump that keeps exhaust gas temps high enough to help achieve light off temperature in the remaining cats when the engine is cold. It does consume a small amount of engine power but does have a positive benefit by increasing exhaust gas temperature by a small amount, which helps spin the turbo with expanding gasses. The increase in exhaust gas temp is not enough to shorten the life of the turbo and with good engine management, it will not cause a problem even for modified engines. I wish Subaru had gone to this system in the earlier WRXs because the power potential is worth the added clutter of the air pump.
