Turbo timer needed?

Turbo timer needed?
Hi all,
Just wanted to ask for everyone's opinion on whether or not I'd need to install a turbo timer in my just purchased 2007 Sti...reason I'm asking is because I've gotten mixed response while google-ing on the topic. For purchasing a turbo timer usually supports the idea because they say turbo needs to cool down or else the oil within the turbo will be "cooked"...however, I've read on some websites that since the sti's factory turbo is cooled by both oil and water, it doesn't need a timer to cool down...
As this is my first turbo car...any help would be appreciated

Subaru has pubicly stated that a turbo timer is not needed for our cars. But who knows whether or not they just made that up to make themselves look better.
You can get turbo timers for extremely cheap, like less than $70 cheap. It's not a bad investment to protect your turbo and give you peace of mind.

have to disagree with that. the VF series turbo's are water and oil cooled, making them run a lot cooler than just oil cooled turbo's. as long as you dont run the car extremely hard and turn it off right away you are fine.
trust me man, save the money for a more efficient performance mod.

Additionally, some folks have had trouble getting warranty work done due to having a TT in the car.
