TMIC vs. FMIC

Is there really that much of an advantage to using a front mount as opposed to a top mount intercooler? of course the fmic looks intimidating but other than that..... i understand the tmic will get hotter from the engine but the fmic is also sitting right on the radiator and it seems pretty likely to get damaged.... does anyone have dyno info on this??

With a FMIC it will take longer for boost to build, but it is more efficient. With a stock turbo and basic bolt-ons there is no reason to upgrade to a FMIC. Your stock TMIC will work fine.

My wife asked me a question one day when we saw an Evo. She said, "Why is the radiator mounted in front of the car where it could get damaged by road debris?" I never actually considered that. She makes a valid point.

Anyway, IF I decided to go with some larger mods I would just upgrade to a thicker/bigger TMIC, but that's me personally......

Have you seen the Bare Speed FMIC? Does anyone have anymore information on it? Here is the link.

For basic bolt ons -- TMIC. Simpler, cheaper and more efficeint than the stock one. If you start getting into bigger projects then look to a FMIC for max power.
