I dont know if i am putting this in the right forum but here goes. I just got a full ride scholarship to university and now I have a gift that my parents owe me. I was thinking of dropping and STI engine into my 2003 RS. I know i would have to do the transmission too. How much would it cost me to do a complete engine and transmission swap? I know its kind of ambitious but it would be sweet to have that much of a sleeper. Thanks for all your input.

It would cost just a tiny bit less than trading your car in for a fully assembled STi. There's WAY more that will need to be swapped than engine and transmission.
If you are simple wanting more power, go with a built engine, stronger tranny gears, and better clutch. Or, just get a trubo kit. Now if your parents are loaded and will buy you anything, do whatever.

heya....
yo willie,
first off congrats on the scholarship! right on dude!
as for your 2003 RS/STI hybrid i think meetoo is kinda right, tho i like the sleeper idea! i think sleepers rule. but i dunno, the 2003 RS already looks alot like a wrx, and there's a bunch of wrx's out there modded, that can hang with STI so i dont see it as being that much of a sleeper.
This is of course just my humble opinion, but i always thought the 98-2001 RS looked the best of the whole impreza line. and RS's are kinda rarer to find than WRX's and finding one that can hang with an STI is rarer still. you drop an STI engine into an older RS and thats one bad assed (shut yo mouth!)
plus with the rs being lighter than the new body style, that thing will just fly!
good luck with whatever you do!

i think you should tade it in. it wouldnt be really much of a sleeper, when they almost look the same. if you did want to make it look like and rs, you could go wingless, rs hood with fmic, debadged, ect.
