new owner upgrades
I am getting ready to pick up a WRX sti and I had a few questions about modifications. I have been reading a bit on the web and for my daily driver the power mods could be:
prodrive exhaust
up pipe- any brand?
cobb ecu
blitz intake
synthetic fluids? some or all?
Any thoughts/opinions on any of this? I am mainly want mild mods that I never have to mess with again, that can pass emissions in AZ, and that doesn't make too much noise/vibration
thanks
Pete

I would go synthetic for a while, and I think youll be happier with a down-pipe rather than an up-pipe. Itll give you more power and if you use the prodrive exhaust I dont think youll get boost creep. Other than that use your won discression.

*no need for an uppipe in the STi, it's already catless.
*I would avoid intakes on the STi. See the intake debate sticky in the EJ20 forum for the reasons why.
*Cobb doesn't have an ECU ready yet, but EcuTek reflashes should be available by next month. Many vendors can help you with these.
*Go with synthetic after 1,000 miles, or 2,000, or 5,000, or 10,000, whenever you feel like it's safe. Lots of debate on exactly when, but once the motor is fully broken in it's fine to switch.
edit for typo. Thanks WW.

wow. Thinking about mods already?? I say enjoy your car as is for a while. Harness the power before you give it thought. From there, judge what you want to do to it.
The car is not catless. Trust me.
