STI TMIC in an 06 WRX

I tried to install an STI TMIC that I had bought back in 2003 from RalliSpec (rallispec.com) and found the mounting brackets on the engine needed to extent out (towards the firewall) about 9/16" to line up with the TMIC. I got around this by modifying the brackets. I also notcied the standard 06 TMIC throttle body hose was a ***** to install. Seems the hose from a pre 2006 WRX fits well as it is 1/4" shorter and will allow easier installation.

Has anyone else experienced these problems? There are several mentions of STI TMIC installs being done but no one mentions having run into any problems. I compared the dimentions of the TMIC I have with those on a 2006 STI and they seem to be the same.

Do any of you guys have any comments on this? Has anyone tried installing an STI TMIC in a 2006 WRX?

44ME, we just installed an STi TMIC on a friends 06 TR.

You will need to get different hosing (especially from the turbo to the y-pipe)
It's pretty much the same problem that everyone runs into when fitting an STi intercooler on the WRX. My install is on hold until I get the hose I need.

There is a thread on NASIOC, I'll have to dig it up later.

I just put the STi intercooler on the 06 tr and it works great. Just am lucky that I did have another hose to use. The STi hose is about an inch to short.

What about the performance aspect? Noticeable gains? Is it worth it if you are still running stock turbo?

With a tune you will see some gains...without....you might see some loss.

Currently I have lost about .3 -.5 pounds of boost. It is better than the stock intercooler and will make a big difference once I get the uppipe, downpipe, and tune done.

And if I were to get a tune, I would most likely want to wait until I had a downpipe to add into that mix so I could go stage 2 at the same time - figure I could save some $ on protuning that way :P. Ok, well thanks .
