STi with tbe and no ported turbo no fuel cut
STi with tbe and no ported turbo no fuel cut
hey i just met a guy in the bay area with a blue sti. his sti has a apex-i gt spec, gfb bov, and xede chip from vishnu. he told me that his car hit fuel cut because of overboosting, but when he got the tuned xede chip from vishnu, he didnt get fuel cut anymore. if this is true, i think it would be the best mod with the tbe without porting the wasgate on the turbo

Can you have this guy post about how he drives his car?? i don't see how 800 EM can cure a problem w/ the wastegate on the turbo that still only cost 195+ shipping to deadbolt.

Now i see why he doen't hit boost/fuel cut. He only has a down pipe, those that are have the a problem have totally free flowing exhaust.
insaneSTi 's friend doesnt get fuel cut because he doesnt have a catback along with the downpipe. but the guy im talkin about has a turbo back exhaust and doesnt hit fuel cut after he got the xede chip from vishnu

With an xede you hit boost cut less because the way the comp intercepts the signal. You are still overboosting and detonating though, the only way to CORRECT the problem is to port.
PS you hit fuel cut less in warmer climates because the air is less dense and warmer.

The degree of boost creep and fuel cut is directly related to a couple of factors: how cold it is, what gear you are going WOT in, and how free flowing your exhaust is. I've hit fuel cut at ~45 degrees w a full turboback (no cats). Someone with a catted system or just a DP would most likely get fuel cut at lower temps.
What is the temperature where your friend lives?

The Vishnu Xede package gets rid of or raises the fuel cut for the boost probably. But Vishnu hasn't talked about fuel cut on their site at all. I think that because the downpipe has a divorced wastegate that that might help the creep. I'm going to call today and see what's going on.

Dont beat me down to bad, but i need help fast. 2/3/04
My mechanic is going to port my turbo tommorrow and i had no idea how to get to the back of the waste gate because the STi turbo looks like its one solid piece of metal.
Hes really good at what he does, so if you put something inside to catch the shavings and cleaned it out real well could you port the turbo on the car?
I have looked everywhere but cant find out how (step by step, pictures would be even better) to do this porting job.
Please help, save the "Your an idiot" comments for after you help me out. Thanks Greg
