Starting mods for a WRX TR 2007, I am a newbie and would appreciate some help
hey guys I would just like to say that this forum is great I was turned on by a fellow member zion and this place is amazing, I was wondering if anyone would help me out? my baby is 7 months old and stock and I would love to start modding the engine, I was thinking maybe a k&n typhoon intake with an STI TMIC and maybe COBB DP and catback.. is that good stuff tho? would I have to get an AP or engine managment? and is there anythign that I should get before that? thanks a ton in advance

depends on what youre looking for at the moment. power, handling, or looks.
if you want power, this would be the first few items i'd go with:
- TBE (turbo-back exhaust - includes the downpipe and cat-back)
you dont need the upipe, yours is already catless
- EM (engine management) i went with the Cobb Accessport, very reliable and is easy to use. if you want better gains, get a professional tune from a reputable tuner.
the TBE and EM are usually good to yield anwhere from 20-35hp maybe more depending on weather you get tuned or not.
- next for me would be Injectors and a fuel pump (once you get these you WILL have to get a professional tune or else your car will run extremely rich and unsafe.)
Suspension/handling:
- Rear sway bar- a good way to stiffen up the rear end and induce a little oversteer in order to counter the cars natural understeer. a front sway bar would really help the handling as well.
- springs - both for handling and looks, I am going with swift springs since they are a bit stiffer and more performance oriented which is what i am looking for.
- lower arm bars- help to stiffen up your car. I personally want to go with either beatrush or perrin once i save up some money.
Looks:
honestly, this would be a personal decision. its your car, make it look how you want.
hope this helped you out a little and good luck with your subie

NorCalBugEye, thanks a ton for the info man!! it really helped me try to sort out what to do first, and what brand TBE should I use? Is there a best and a mid grade? also, since the swift springs are stiffer, what are some more forgiving springs for lowering. in confort I mean. and once again thanks a ton

Cat-back + Downpipe = TBE so if you want you can make your own. just buy a catback like the HKS hi-power or Borla Hush and get a downpipe like Titek or Invidia. i was going to get the borla hush catback and a titek downpipe, but now am going with the Tanabe Concept G blue TBE mainly because it is a true 3" and can be had for around $750 instead of the $1000+ for other TBE like APS.
as for springs, ive heard good things about Eiback springs as well as Prodrive's which arent as harsh.
good luck and happy modding bro, if you have some more questions ask them. I'm sure if I cant answer them there are a ton of people here that can.

I was also told that the cobb sport spring were good too?? what do you think of those, cause I would like to keep a nice ride just improve looks and handling. but any downpipe and cat-back will work together? you say the HKS is a good one for cat-back? what do you think the overall pricing would be on that setup?

ive heard good things about the cobb springs as well. very well made actually have yet to here somone complain about them.
the HKS is good if youre looking for a angled exhaust that isnt extremely loud. just remember that it will probably attract a lot of attention, good and bad. I used to have one on my WRX and I also had the Tanabe TBE on it as well. now that i have my STi i feel its better for me to have a more "sleeper" exhaust but thats just me.
The HKS hi-power cat-back and a Titek Downpipe would run you about $700-$800. again, if you want something more quiter and still have the same performance, i would go with either the Cobb cat-back or the Borla Hush.

i never said he did, i just told him that the next mod i would consider is larger injectors and a fuel pump + a tune. and larger injectors would help to add a few more ponies and Torque when tuning time comes. the upgraded fuel pump and injectors along with the TBE could yield an extra 8-15whp, maybe more depending how aggressive your tune will be rather than just a TBE by itself.
but again, if you do upgrade the fuel components, you WILL need to be tuned for them. and you can say bye to your gas mileage as well

you, i have an 07 tr, im going with cobb tbe cause the muffler is the most sleeper becuase it looks exactly like stock,
im getting the cobb stage 2 performance package, it adds about 50hp i think, it ha the tbe, with a cat, and a accessport,, im getting installed and protuned for 2,200..
then cobb stage 2 suspension package, the cobb springs arent very stiff but the
sway bars are adjustable so you can choose from 3 levels of stiffness.
a spearco tmic
cobb light wieght crank pulley
keepin the stock air box, maybe a cobb sort ram air.
