on v-tec motors the cam does NOT move at all.
the cam is pressurized w/ oil once the v-tec solonoid is activated.
this pressurizes a 3rd rocker set in the middle of the 2 other rockers.
then pistons, similar looking to dowels, slide out of the center rocker, and join the other 2 rockers to the center rocker as one piece.
the center rocker has a higher profile cam lobe which means once connected to the other 2 rockers, it pushes those down further also.
this is where 'honda tick' comes from. because as v-tec is activated, the 2 rockers that become joined to the center one acutally leave the cam lobes for a split second.
it seems like a bad idea, but it is obviously not b/c honda engines last forever, unless in the hands or ricers....

by the way i would like to emphasize that i am NOT a honda finatic, and the only reason i know this is b/c i wanted to prove the honda guys wrong, and did a lot of research.

and i am sorry imprezer for getting avcs mixed up, i did not know how it worked, and i assumed companies were just copying honda b/c theyve had v-tec for so long.
thanx for clearing that up
