T67 isn't a very efficient turbo, just ask mike@gruppe-s (a vendor here)

500whp reliably seems unrealistic on stock internals...

I am just completely unfamiliar with where to go to mod these, I know E36 M3's like the back of my hand =) but STI's are new territory, I hope to join you guys soon though! I have been reading since I posted and seen some setups from Xcceleration.com, they have 3 street and 2 race upgrade kits. I was thinking the stage 3 street setup looked like what I'm after, but I don't know anything about them, anyone with info on this company? Also where is a good place to go to beef up my internals, I want a bulletproof motor. Thanks guys, you rock.
If you do a search for Xcceleration on this site you'll find that most people do not believe their hp claims. In addition, their kits are way overpriced for what you are getting. They use a Unichip for engine management and that is something that most tuners gave up 3 years ago for better options.

Here are some of the big names in Subaru parts and tuning. I would suggest contacting several of them to get an idea of what your options are:

http://www.vishnutuning.com
http://www.gruppe-s.com
http://www.cobbtuning.com
http://www.turboxs.com

There are many more, but these guys have a lot of tuning experience and represent several different engine management platforms.

Another favorite place of mine is one of the premier Subaru suspension gurus:

http://www.sel-gp.com

I can rattle of another 100 websites if you want. Just let me know what else you are looking for and what the goals are for the car (drag, road race, autox, etc.).

AWD is a wonderful thing. a friend of mine did the exact same thing as you. one thing he did miss was the "solid" feel of the bmw. nonetheless, i think you will be happy. 500 hp is a very expensive venture... i would opt for a different angle in terms of mods. like susp, brakes and putting the car on a diet.

Tuning is one thing, what about appearance?

I am also a prospective owner -- as in, I decide in the next two days whether I will get an STi or a Legacy GT. One of the first things I will do if I get the STi is take the wing off! I know that might sound like sacrilege to many, but for my 50-some year old eyes it is just too much. However, I would like to replace it with something else, something a bit less obvious I guess. So I'm looking for good sources for body and appearance bits, as well as tuning stuff.

Thanks!

You'll be better off trading trunks with a WRX owner with the same color as your STi. The STi trunk has something like 17 holes in it for the wing. I don't know of any aftermarket wings that will cover all of the holes.
