I'm bumping this thread because I'm trying to find info on these turbos in an STi, ie. what is a safe boost for this engine, RPM boost comes on, etc? Is 19-20PSi with these turbos too high for the stock engine?

Also I'll throw in some other turbo options:

1WCKDSTI,

thanks for the reply! . i'm looking for a good all round reliable bolt on turbo and 20g seems to be what a lot of people are going with. i read the 20g will give about 20+whp more than the 1820 on the top end. btw, did you ever run 100 octane on your old set up and what em are you using?

post up the results when the new turbo goes in!

The SZ49 and FP green seem to be almost the same. How does the 20G compare? Are you talking about the TD05-20G? Deadbolt also sells a TD06-20G which is very simiolar to the FP Green except that the FP uses a TD06H. What is the difference between the two turbines?

Well I just got a response from DeadBolt and the there isn't much difference between the PE1818 and the 18G. The 1818 is ball bearing and will spool quicker and the 18G has a bit more top end power.

I guess my next question is how the 1820 compares in spool up and top-end to the 18G? Much like the question of the first poster.

When does boost come on with the TD06-20G and FP green/SZ49?

Jerry from deadbolt said that the TD05 and PE1818 are too small for the 2.5 STi engine. Mainly because, "the KONG uses the #18 turbine housing which is too small for the 2.5L (The #18 housing is the same one used on the VF39 which causes creep problems.) The TD05H turbine is also too small to efficiently allow air to escape from the turbine housing."

I was under the belief that only the P17 housing caused boost creep and the newer P18 IHI turbos didn't have that problem.

1WCKDSTI- Good to see your review on the 1820 on the 2.5L. was your 1820 a new style or old style? what spring did you have your WG loaded to? Also, who did your tune?

I know its not the largest for the 2.5L nor 2.0L blocks but im sure it would make a very fun ride in either displacement. I know so from experience on my JDM v7 setup.

Stock USDM Sti's dyno around the 250whp mark..jumping to 337whp is definitely a kick in the pants and plenty of power to beat plenty of cars on the road
