Nice Intercooler any thoughts??

Has anyone tried this intercooler or know anything about this intercooler provider? It looks and sounds a little better then some of the other intercooler I have seen listed. (Including the SSAuto Chrome that seems to be very popular in my searches) Can anyone say anything good or bad about it? Any opinions? According to the person I talked to it is a bolt on and uses the stock y-pipe.
I am running stage 2 and wonder if I will have any benefits using this intercooler. I won’t be changing my turbo just yet, but eventually. If link does not work the item # is 250033275434

The e-bay store name for the intercooler is Autox2 if anyone is familiar. Thanks

Lots of people use it and love it. It's cheaper and larger than the STI i/c too.

You can try copying and pasting this in the URL bar. This would be going on a 2006 STI. Would it still be an improvement over the STI intercooler?

The link in the fifth post works. I don't want to get it if it's not going to be better then the intercooler my sti came with.

The question you need to answer (I can't tell from your post) is why do you need a larger intercooler. Have you upgraded the turbo? If not, then there is no reason to touch your intercooler. You'll see minimal gains, at best.

I run my STi as hard as most people ever will around Thunderhill racetrack with the RPM above 6,000 RPM for 20 minutes at a stretch. I have the stock turbo with a 3" full turboback exhaust and ECUtek reflash pushing my boost to 18.5psi. I run the stock intercooler without any problems at all.

If you have a legitimate need for an upgraded intercooler (i.e.: increased flow due to a larger turbo), then by all means do it. Otherwise, your money would be better spent elsewhere in the engine bay.

Thanks Egan
That’s pretty much what I was expecting. I have done the 3 inch turbo back, Access port, drop in filter and pulley. I am looking for something to give me some more power. I plan on a different turbo, but I want to push other options first. Any suggestions? The STi is pretty new to me. I have a lot more experience with domestic cars. The concept is generally the same though. Thanks for the help.

You're pretty much at the limits of the stock turbo with some good tuning and a turboback. Next thing will be bigger turbo, injectors, fuel pump, bigger TMIC/FMIC, and a re-tune.

Until you're ready for that step, I would suggest some suspension mods to fully take advantage of the power. A nice set of swaybars, followed by springs or even coilovers. Of course the choices depend on what you plan to do with the car.

And in the meantime, if you don't already have them, get yourself some accurate gauges. Boost, EGT, oil pressure, and fuel pressure would be my recommendation. A lot of people overlook the fuel pressure gauge, but it saved my but when one of my vac lines blew off at the track and my fuel pressure went to static, even under full boost. If I hadn't noticed that my fuel pressure wasn't where it would normally be, I might have had some serious engine damage.
