Angry mods and overboosting

i have saved up enough money to buy a perrin downpipe and have enough money to buy a greddy evo in 2 weeks.....

BUT....

ive heard people are overboost/boost spike/boost cut with the perrin downpipe and greddy evo setup. is this true? if you have a similar setup, please tell us how it is.

all i really want is a full turbo back exhaust that will be on my car for many miles, without having any cel's or overboosting. is there anyone who has a tbe setup who would like to post some pics along with pros/cons, that would really help.

thanks

did i post in the wrong thread or something? come on you guys have got to have similar problems or are wondering what setup works.

ive noticed how few people modified their sti compared to the evo owners. not that it helps with my question above. but what i am really curious about is why aren't the stage packages from many tuners out yet? or if they are, how come it hasnt been popular? the sti has been out for over 6 months now, and there has not been many posts on tuners bragging how much power they could produce out of their products

Hey dashiet

I am taking a friend of mine VF39 out of his STi today and putting in my PnP VF30 today so he can send his turbo to get port~n~polished here at-->http://www.deadboltspeed.com/ im in hawaii and it cost me about 120.00 through FedEx round trip to North Carolina and back then it cost 195.00 to Port~n~Polish the turbo. When they Port~n~polish the turbo they also PnP the waste gate. They can also just PnP the wastegate that cost 95.00 bucks, throw down the extra 100 bucks and you'll have a turbo that spools up fast and gains better top end. Oh i never said why he is doing this, we installed a helix down pipe w/ a custom 3 inch cat back. His car would spike to 20 psi and drop down to 15. In the mix of launching his car the CEL would come on and the cruise light would be flashing. If you have anymore Q's just ask, Mario

Buy a used TD04 and get it PnP. Put it in them sell the TD04 or keep it as a spare.
I don't think dashiet wants to put a TD04 on an STi...

I think it took them about 3 days to PnP my turbo. If you want a more specific answer ask them->http://www.deadboltspeed.com/

If you wanna see some pics of my VF30 PnP to compare to yours.LMK The hot sides of the turbo are pretty similar.

ive heard that getting a blitz sus and greddy evo cat back would not cause overboossting...is that true? iff it is i might just go with that setup until other sti owners start trying out new turbos and get some feedback from them. i just think that spending 200 to PnP the turbo would be too much, because if i sold the turbo and saved that 200, id have more money torwards a bigger one..

i want the nice rumble sound that is mild and not extremely loud but after reading what you guys had to say about the perrin downpipe and greddy evo exhaust overboosting, i dont know what my options are as far as an exhaust system

i dont bring my car to the tracks, or am a flat out racer, but i just like the power there for fun. this is my daily car that i use to go to school and go to work. my friend has an evo, but there are many various reason why i chose the sti

-most importantly, is because i have seen subarus live for over 100k miles

-the evo is running 19 psi!!

-the interior is nicer(gauges and interior)

-the gold rims doesnt look as cheap as the eneki rims

-subaru and wrx owners...by that i mean there are plenty of you owners and fans out there to answer my questions if i come across any.

-the evo just seems really cheap in my opinion, such as the dash is just soo plain, it doesnt have dccd, and i dont trust mitsubishi's

thanks for the feedback

It doesn't matter the brand of down pipe that you get (unless someone devopled something we don't know about) your turbo is going to spike when you go full throttle. You can get any intake that makes you happy i don't think it really matters. Now any cat back sounds like a cheap alternative to the STi's problem. I say go for what ever makes you happy Merry Christmas
