Question installing new intake

I'm trying to find out any info on installing a new intake for my 06 sti.
I wanted to know if this will mess up anything with the ECU.
If so what do I need to do to fix it so it works properly?

Install intake. Disconnect negative cable on battery, step on brake several times. Reconnect. Let car idle till warm. Drive the wheels off it. ECU has been reset and is ready to rock with the new intake.

It sounds goooood at 30-40mph and even better at 150mph.

Is this your first mod? I would suggest what dunnzter428 said. Get a downpipe or a Cobb AP. Much bigger bang for the buck. Intake should be one of the last mods you do. The intake i believe leans your car out. The AP can be programmed to compensate for that. I have a K&N Short Ram intake on my 05 STi. But i did it after i had DP, CBE, and AP. IMO - The flow through the turbo is more evened out when you have bigger pipes for exhaust. You are sucking all that air in but the air going out is still only 2.5" stock. Could just be me. After I installed the DP and CBE I noticed "back pressure", seemed like more air was going out and the stock airbox could not handle the amount of air needed to be sucked in to match the bigger exhaust. So i got my CAI. Made a big difference then got it tuned and bang it runs like a champ. The CAI gave me like 3 or 4 WHP.

But hey to each their own. Have fun.

E
