IHI VF37 turbo TWIN SCROLL design specifications?
A local buddy of mine rolled his car a little while back shortly after having installed his vf37 turbo setup. He was messed up pretty bad but has mostly recovered since it happened 2 years ago.
At the time, he removed the whole setup and stored it hoping to get it in another WRX someday but it just never happened. I took a chance one day that he might be interested in getting rid of it and (low-and-behold) he was. $1300 later and it's mine. Turbo, JDM DP, JDM UP, JDM EL headers, and modified STI midpipe (extended 4" because the JDM exhaust length is different).
I have to say that the exhaust stuff that comes with this is not bad from the factory. The headers are equal length stainless steel inside of a heat shield. To take it one step farther, Subaru injected thermal insulating foam between the pipes and the heat shield for heat scavenging and better flow. How do I know? Because when my friend rolled his car, a tiny section of the heat shield seperated just enough to see the foam and SS underneath. No biggie, I just bent the heatshield back to seal it up and you'll never know there was ever any issue. Subaru didn't make it look the prettiest but they did a quality job with it's functional design. Maybe someday I'll get the Zerosports DP, but I'd like to see information forst on the expected gains for the $900 extra bucks. Anyway...
Supporting mods:
Turbo XS Utec
Turbo XS Magnaflow axleback
Turbo XS Manual Boost Controller
DeatschWerks 650cc injectors
Walbro 255lph fuel pump
USDM WRX ej20
I dropped off my wagon yesterday and it's getting installed this week. I'll post up my dyno chart when I get it.
