Talking I wish someone had told me it would be this good...

Hey everyone... 250 miles into my new 06 STI (pics coming soon) and 2 disgruntled porsches later (just from parking next to them) Im experiencing the best ride of my life. No more driving the 3 series for me.... this is way better than i ever expected, especially since i only got a 3 mile test drive and couldnt go over 3500 rpms before I got it. One question though... The motor sounds like it has a valve "tick"... A co worker w/ a WRX said this is normal because of the type of motor... I suspect that it is just breaking in but not sure.. I will give it to 1500 miles.. but before that, can anyone tell me if this is normal ?? Aside from that though... OMFG is all I have to say... that and "Today's Special: Roast Porsche, Julian M3's w/ a light G35 desert"

The tick is probably normal. Every suby I've ever heard has a "tick" congrats one the car.

Have some other suby owners listen to it, I'm sure they'll say it's normal.

+1 for it being normal, I'm on my third Suby and they have all done it.

The ticking is normal. I have two Subarus. A 2006 STi and a 2005 Outback XT. They both have a similar tick.

I think it is just an attribute of the boxer engine design.

A friend of mine has a new BMX motorcycle with the same engine config and it "ticks" as well.
