How to MOD right? HELP
I am looking forward modding my 09 STi in the near future but I have no clue on how to do it.
I just bought a COBB AP. Can I use it without doing any upgrades on my STi?
I know that tires, brakes, and suspension should be done first before increasing power. Any suggestions?
When I decide to upgrade my power I would like to get my torque somewhere between 400- 450. What would I need to do to get there?
Last Newbie question. If I purchase an aftermarket bolt-on turbo and a TBE can I use with stock STi components or do I need to upgrade them as well?
Thanks

if you want to bolt on a new turbo and tbe. bare minimum you would need a bigger fuel pump and injectors. You could get away with stock everything else. The stock intake is good I believe to over 350whp so you wont need a bigger maf. It all depends on where you want to eventually take the car. Theres no use use buying a downpipe and all that other stuff if you might end up going to a rotated setup because those parts will just need to be sold to accomodate the new hardware for the rotated turbo.
first of all 400-450 WHP is alot..... you might wanna start slow and work your way up.... you will be suprised how much diferent it is, your going to have to re learn your car. anyways i would suggest putting on a tbe and getting a tune on 91 and 100 oct.like alot of i-clubbers i go to GST. If you wanna hear about personal experiences or how to make more power and such shoot me a PM with some questions and if your reallllllly set on 400+ whp let me know i can help you out.

The tires brakes and suspension on your 09 sti are ok for now. Its still a pretty new platform so your first purchace of the ap was a great choice. Pick a local shop lik GST or LIC and see what thy have to say for upgrades beyond that point. Maybe get a tune or custom map and then wait to see what works for everyone else out there on the 09.
You know you have your HP/torque flipped, right? You're not going to get more torque than hp out of a 91-octane gas motor with such tiny displacement. WRX rally cars make close to 500wtq but do so with a totally built motor that has almost nothing in common with a factory model, and they run on race gas. The real problem you would face with 400wtq would be traction -- AWD is not magic, it obeys the laws of physics. You can spin/smoke all four wheels in a turn with just 230wtq, I have done it. Even stuffing 10" tires in the STI (which requires a decent amount of suspension re-engineering and tweaking) you'd still run the risk of spinning the tires unless you just coasted it through turns, defeating the advantage and purpose of AWD. The best part about the low center of gravity and AWD traction of the STI is being able to get on the gas in a turn, clutch engaged, and power out of it while the RWD people are still finishing their braking and feathering the throttle. I'm a little old-fashioned here, but the STI (even the 09 model) comes from the factory with an excellent balance of power and handling, and throwing 200+ more horsepower at it has a chance of making a kick-*** car -- or making an undriveable mess.
