Unhappy FP Green failure, what replacement turbo? (was: need advice)

i have a 05 sti with the following mods:
fp green
perrin 816cc inj.
walboro 255 pump
perrin fuel rails
turboxs tbe 3"
gpmoto equal length headers
turboxs utec
k&n typhoon intake
magnus intake mani.
ported stock throttle body
bigger tmic
ur pulleys
xs engineering ign. amp.
koyo alum. rad.
process west oil cooler.
hallman mbc. boosting 17- 17.5 psi
i think thats all the engine mods. nothing internal yet. i get all my work done at tav racing in miami. no complaints at all. gus is the mechanic and owner and the only other person thats driver my car so far. now, the thing is that the other day i was giving a couple of friend a ride in the car and when i reached about 5500 rpm we heard a pop that sound like a hose blew and i lost boost, the engine still ran but no boost. the next morning we took the turbo out. not pretty at all the intake side: no broken off blades but bent at the tips in on section and the exhaust side had about four broken blades. when spun by hand the shaft was bent and and there was oil all in the turbo. dead fp green. i now need a new turbo, the green is out of warranty, i can probably send it over to fp for rebuilding and maybe upgrading it, or just buying the newer version of it. the other option was trying a td06 20g instead. will i get the same power, more or less from the 20g?can you guys recommend any other turbo that might be worthwhile? i want to keep it bolt in config. and i now i will probably get more horses out of a fmic. i was considering ex enginieerings fmic. never dynoed the car, but i can tell you i lost some bottom end, but when mid and top came along it was ...... wow!any advice will help, thanx. ill take pictures and post them soon.

I think you should find out why this happened in the first place before you go and spend $$$ on a new turbo, only to have it blow as well.

What do you have for engine management? You spent a lot of money on upgrades to be running everything off of an MBC.

looks to me like he has a utec?

as far as MBCs--i've had an mbc on my car since the month after i got it, and it's never coming off.

destroying a turbo in that way comes down to foreign object damage.

i have the turbo xs utec that we tune it on the road, as far as the turbo goes the mech. check it out and as far as we can see the was no foreign object damage to the inlet blades, the damage looked as if the shaft had some play and rubbed the side of the housing wall. i talked with fp the told me to ship the turbo to them and they will tear it apart and find out what happened. while it there im just going to upgrade it to a red. after talking with them i belive it will be a way cheaper option to get it upgraded and rebuild than a new one. i just recently installed the bee-r rev limiter u think that had any thing to do with the failure? just in case im removing it. i never had a problem with the suby before i installed the rev limiter.

How about a modded VF22? I don't know the exact details but go to www.getadomtune.com and ask him.
