FMIC Questions
FMIC Questions
When you guys put a FMIC on your STi, what do you put in the scoop on the hood? Do you put some mesh in there to keep debris out? Before, I'd imagine that you could just pick it off the TMIC, but now, won't crap just get into the engine bay? Is their a common solution?
Just left it the way it was. I am highly considering doing the mesh though. But I havnt noticed too much crap in my bay. It usually just goes through the bay to the ground.

From: Are you too one of the few still living the past? Well I can change that! With a simple wicket. Yes, my friend, a wicket. PM for details.
Car Info: No car right now....sob.
You could a) Move the intake, b) Get a new sleeper hood.
Im shure someone with a non turbo subie would trade for an alluminum hood with scoop. Or by a c/f one w/o a scoop. I have also seen some guys take off the scoop and modify the hood, kinda like the EVO's vents.

Here is what I did.
It's an aluminum blockoff plate w/ a naca duct for drawing air onto the turbo heat shield. Aluminum works well on the silver car, but I am having it built in Carbon Fiber as we speak. If others are interested in one feel free to let me know. Obviously custom hand laid CF isn't cheap, but the first one is always the most expensive.

I just put on a RS hood but, had I seen Stott's setup up I may have gone that way looks cool but does that hole really suck in air ? If it does whats to keep it form sucking in water and causing some rust or other damage.

It is black mesh, but I'm probably going to go with something that has better airflow, though I could also paint that black. I was going for fucntionality it just happen to be decently stealth as well.
As far as sucking in water, the stock setup will actually let water in on that half of the intake as well if you look at it as a portion of the air from the hood scoop is aimed at the turbo heat shield which doesn't matter if it gets wet.
My setup has ducting on the inside that points everything towards the turbo heat shield which, like I said, is fine if it gets wet. You just can't really see the duct unless the hood is up. There is probaby a picture of it in my gallery somewhere but I don't feel like digging around for pics right now, feel free to hunt around.

I was planing on getting the reverse scoop gruppe-s sells but after seeing it, it looks a bit "ricey" it almost sticks up as high as a scoop! I would like to find a louvered pannel like the EVOs have.
