is there a difference between the 2? if im not mistaken my SSC issue said that the 06 has 240hp and now i look at the 07 specs and it has lower hp is that true or is that just trying to make the STi look better?

The government has changed the way car manufactures calculate horsepower. For example the 05 STI lists horsepower at 300 and the 06 STI is at like 296. All cars have had to change this.
Just my two cents on a bunch of horses!

That change took effect on the 07 STI, now the 06. Is that accurate? That page seems to be quite resourceful and in depth.

Eckshero, the 07's come with an AUX input for MP3 players. Thats about all I can think of thats different aside from the power claims.

Also, try searching this was asked a couple of weeks ago and it got to be about 2 or 3 pages long. (:

 

the differences between the 06-07 that i know of are:

-The headlights on 07's are all chrome, not kinda blacked out like the 06.
-The tail lights on the 07's are all chrome, not kinda blacked out like the 06.
-The vent on the bumper on the 06 is black, the 07 is the color of the car.
-The 06 had liquid tranny mounts??? The 07 is solid....?

like they said above, the hp test is now different.... the cars are relatively the same.

 

If we're talking about STI's there's a difference in the turbo and gear ratios. The new turbo in the 07 is a vf43, It's a different turbo and its a bigger one. The gear ratio's are longer than the 06's the 07 sti is the best one yet. But the 06 wrx and the 07 wrx arent different at all for what i know.
