I guess that Subaru lied to me when they sold me the 06 and it had a cat in the up-pipe. Maybe they put the 06 grille on my car or something.
The STi does not have a cat, but I just checked again and, hold on, yep still a cat in the up-pipe.
Oh, and the reason I think they have one is because I can see one. I will post a picture once I get one of the up-pipe.
Maybe calling a service shop would clear this up.

are you talking about the bulge in the up-pipe you can see? this is a flex joint you know, heres the stock STI up-pipe wher eyou can see the bulge in the piping wher ethe flex joint is.

I just learned a big thing on the 06. The cat that I saw is the start of the downpipe. I will walk around with my head down in shame for about 5 minutes then find something else to be schooled on.
I guess the only really way to unn00b yourself is to get taken to school every now and again.

thank God hearin that there are cats and are no cats in the uppipe glad that was cleared up....anyway i got an 06 WRX TR with a little over 2k miles...good to race and mod it soon?
