Clutch and downpipe walkthoroughs? pretty please,

I am about to put a clutch and down pipe in the 04 sti, and have a couple problems. Hancock is charging me 700 dollars of labor (7.5 hours) for clutch. I can definitely do the downpipe was just wondering if there were any small issues. Are there any large issues with the clutch? When I looked at it on the lift it looks like there may not be clearance to move the tranny back to access the clutch assembly. Might have to drop it? It does look like the intercooler will have to go as well as the front half-shafts. Any help is much appreciated.

Any specific reason for the new clutch? I assume its not because of massive hp your putting to the wheels considering your at a point where your are putting in the downpipe (I assume your just now moving on to stage 1). The stock clutch is reasonably bullet proof if you arn't trying to do burnouts or 5500 rpm launches in your all wheel drive car. The STI has a tough drivetrain. I am putting 360 to the wheels and have never had any slipage with the stock clutch. One of the shop owners at PDX Tuning is putting 500 (and more) to the wheels and just started to notice slipping in his stock clutch - so she put in an aftermarket clutch...

My point, spend your $$$ elsewhere for now.

Yeah well some of use do lots of high rpm upshifts and downshifts at track days try to give his friend in the z06 a hard time, so it is definitely about time. 46,000 miles on the old OD. As for the rest of the replies, thanks alot for the help guys. Couldn't get the first 2 links to work though. The attempt will probably happen in a coupla weeks I'll let ya know how it goes.

Cool! Let me know what you decide to go with. I am at 30k miles right now - don't have to replace mine yet but I am interested as to what you decide to go with.
