BOV causing my engne to stall?!?!
Ok im a newbie when it comes to Subarus and turbo engines I was a Honda guy, but anyways I just installed a Blitz BOV and Tanabe Ultra Medalion and every now and again my car would stall and backfire, is that normal?

Take off that BOV and see if your problem goes away. BOV does nothing for performance. Also, don't go the usual Honda route and rush out to buy a cold-air intake - it doesn't help on the STi and may actually cause a reduction in performance in several places in the power band.
If you are happy with the way the car handles and think you might like more power and driveability, keep a watchful eye on the Vishnu Performance web site. Many things are in the development stage or in the process of being manufactured for sale to the public. The STi is still a relatively new vehicle to the USDM so research on speed mods are ongoing.

The shop that installed the BOV told me that its normal because of the air venting to the out into the atmosphere instead of goin back into the intake manifold and because of that the engine is running extra rich at low RPMs which will cause the engine to stall (die) and told me that I need to get a fuel manegment system like the SAFC to correct the fuel and air mixture. But at the same time my buddy that has a WRX have the same BOV and have never had that problem and hes got pretty much that same mods as I do, which is just BOV and exhaust. I dunno what to do.

Is the Blitz BOV adjustable? If not, ask your friend if you can borrow his BOV and try it out on your car. Does it run any better after the swap?

The atmospheric BOVs are the ones that are most likely to cause problems. Not all of them cause stalling. You'll have to ask others for their opinions on what is the best BOV - I've never used one. The atmospheric BOV is like a leak in the intake path. Some people use hybrid (vent some of the boost air, part goes back to intake) or adjustable BOVs, or just stick with the stock compressor bypass valve and say goodbye to the screwed up air/fuel ratio.
What that shop told you is basically correct but if you have to use an S-AFC to compensate, it's not worth the trouble for no power gain. The S-AFC is not the ideal tuning tool for the WRX or STi. It doesn't have the resolution for proper tuning of the Subaru flat four like the Cobb AccessECU, EcuTek, the XEDE, or the UTEC.
Unfortunately, at this writing only the XEDE is close to being adapted to the STi ECU. EcuTek is not expected to be ready with their re-flashing tools for the STi until mid-2004, I believe. You'll have to contact Cobb Tuning for info on the AccessECU for the STi.
If you must have a working BOV on a near stock engine, use the Search function at the bottom of the forum level page.

I have the Blitz BOV, never had a problem with stalling. Make sure you don't have a leak on the hose returning to the intake manifold. Try your stock BOV and see if you encounter the same problem.
