As far as the boosting... I have switched to the LWG cobb 2+ map. I was on the TP stage 2 map and over boosted to 22.3psi at one point. I did throw a code of P0244 which I understand as being the waste gate code.
I am getting inconsistency in boost now so I am leaning toward a bad turbo BUT... I have my compression/leakdown on thursday so I will know for sure then.
Another thing I discovered yesterday. I drove the long way home and noticed that I seem to be able too replicate the -5.0 knock when I am around 2000-2800 rpm and going up a hill. I am feeling I have a combination of issues here.
----------Listed worse to best--------------
* Slightly fractured ring land (how long can I drive on this?)
* Toasty turbo (I still need too remove the intercooler, I bet there is a significant amount of oil in there)
* Vacuum Leak (What's the best way to check for this?)
* Am I missing anything????
The only noises that I am hearing from my engine bay are abnormal and elongated wooshing and whistling especially when I press the throttle.

A pretty good thread on finding vacuum leaks here.

Wondering if the soot you are seeing on bumper/exhaust tips is just as a result of oil being drawn into intake tract from normal PCV system operation? You can check by looking inside intake tube immediately before turbo & turbo itself at inlet to compressor. If so, Air/Oil Separator or Catch Can would solve this. I'm looking at Crawford AOS to solve this on mine. Oil (mist) getting into air/fuel mixture at this point can cause misfires/knock/plug fouling/soot (possibly).
As for Cobb OTS map, I run Cobb OTS Stage 1 + AEM 91 Octane (California, Nevada, Arizona) map. I get knock at about same RPM/load conditions as you. Also, surgey (not a word) feeling under boost. Supposedly this is common with Cobb OTS maps. I only know what my car does.
My 2¢. Hope it helps.

but besides that I have ordered some new exhaust gaskets too put on this weekend as well. But here is the funny/irritating part...
It turns out that the shop that did my stage 2 install DID NOT torque the bolts down on my turbo/downpipe, They were all super loose and one wasn't nut wasn't even on, so I fixed that! My BOV was leaking and had some oily **** in it so I fixed that. Had an after intake hose clam that wasn't seated properly, so I fixed that. I am getting under my car this weekend to do all the gaskets which sould fix this f-in whistling that I am getting plus I am removing the TMIC and hoses to clean them. Do you know a good way to clean out the intercooler?
I am running the stage 2 Torque performance map right now and am not really liking it. I am hoping to go with a brenn tuning stage 2 map. (if they do one) I heard that they do a great job. Plus I am originally from NH and they are also fellow New Englanders so I feel I should support them. I am not quite ready for my pro tune.
Holla!!!!
